Entry from Dale Rumbold
I was born in 1959 so was only 10 years old when Doomwatch started. Despite this, I found the programme compulsive viewing, even at that age. In those days, of just one B&W TV in the house, we would all (me, Mum and Dad) sit around and watch programmes together. Generally it was my dad who decided what we watched! It is many years since I have seen the series (with the exception of a re-run of Tomorrow the Rat, one of the worst episodes), so my memory of the plots of individual shows is very hazy. What does stick in my mind is the episode where Toby Wren (Robert Powell) was killed-off. At that young age, I had never seen a TV programme where the 'goodie' was actually killed, and I remember all of us in the family being shocked by that : we naturally expected the 'hero' to succeed in defusing the bomb. I recall a 'well, they can't have killed him off surely' conversation ensuing! As a Sci-fi fan, 40 years on, Doomwatch remains one of my all-time favourite programmes. It made a decent stab at foretelling some of the environmental horrors that were to come, and definitely made a lasting impression on a 10/11 year-old.

Entry from Donald Bain
Hello, just found your website - I only check missing episodes once in a blue moon, does this count as an entry?
Doomwatch - Great TV
When Doomwatch went to air way back in 1970 i was in first year high school and we all thought it was fabulous, it became the hot topic not only with the other pupils at school but a 'cool' topic that our science teachers could talk about - think that's when we found out they were human.
I am a little familiar with lost episodes, thanks to my interest in Dr Who, I've been working on a full cgi recon of 'web of fear', a Dr Who story from the 60's, perhaps another 5 years before i get anywhere with that idea. I've taught myself one bit of software which does objects like the studio sets, next challenge will be people!
I had an old tape deck and i remember taping the show, i did the same thing with Dr Who and Joe 90 for a while but i ran out of tapes, think i did this for about a year but all gone now.. Without looking at your website the melting plastic, the death of toby(?) and something about workers working with fish and becoming sterile are the things i remember - and the theme tune and intro graphics thermo nuclear hell fire great stuff. I didn't become a scientist but was in Greenpeace a long time ago and still consider myself as 'concerned green' so perhaps that's a Doomwatch legacy.
I would be interested in a DVD issue of all remaining episodes, hope they do that. i read somewhere they reissued 'the stone tape' which scared the daylights out of me - about the same vintage as Doomwatch.
Cheers from
Don Bain Australia
P.S. I will now look at the rest of your website - sure it will bring back memories, good luck with the site etc, cheers again.
