A brand new full-cast audio series is being planned at the moment with an entirely new cast. If anyone would like to chip-in with story lines or direction, please feel free. Below, is a rough outline of stories and characters and is subject to alteration. Some Adam Quist stories may be adapted.
PREMISE.
Due to Government cutbacks a lot of Quangos have been severely cut and Government watchdogs were the hardest hit. This has led to a consolidation of these into one general department that had been largely forgotten and out of the public eye for some time - DOOMWATCH.
Main Cast
Dr David Magnus
In charge of the new team. As incorruptible as Quist, possibly due to a previously unmentioned Government coverup affecting his personal life, maybe a loss of a loved one?
Aaron Corbett
28. He could be called Aaron Corbett and is a well-spoken, everyman type. Calm, unflappable but very curious. We don't know it at this stage, but he's a former criminal who's had his memory erased as part of a rehabilitation program
Jake Hunter
34, devious, dedicated to New Doomwatch but mostly to himself. Isn't afraid to sleep around to get the job done and is therefore a rampant slut. May or not be reporting to sinister superiors unknown and will betray the team in a future adventure.
Jason Gold
A hard working scientist Jason is a bit of a ladies man but also has a hidden serious gambling problem.
Penny Miles
Computer expert and occasional helper to the team. Always capable of cutting any of them down to size. She isn't a bona fide member of the NDW team, but a civilian who is on their side occasionally to help; she therefore pops up in a variety of different guises and situations, always unexpectedly.
Potential Season Story Arc
Jake Hunter has been selling pieces of intel to the press. MI5 investigate the leaks and are certain that a Doomwatch operative is selling the information. They also believe that certain biological information is being leaked via Doomwatch to other counties outside NATO. MI5 mistakenly believe the leak is coming from Jason Gold as he has a gambling problem. Jake steals Jason’s computer ID and frames him when the leak is discovered and an investigation begins. Jason also gets interrogated by MI5.

ZONE THREE
BY Grant Foxon
An experimental programme that has been in development since 1997. Zone Three represents a great leap forward in relations between man and computer. However recent military cutbacks mean that an insider recently managed to sell the project to a private firm for over 6 million. The project is being touted as the next stage in housing and comfort. An experimental apartment building is built with Zone Three technology. This means that the computer learns and understands each tenant in the building and adapts each room and corridor to the individuals. Even in the lifts ambient temperatures are controlled so as to keep those in the lift happy and in constant comfort.
Then things start going wrong subtle changes at first then following a tenant’s heart attack he appears to be trying to get out of the room but the computer had locked the door. People get scared and Doomwatch are called in to investigate. It is then that they discover that one of the Tennent’s an elderly man called Arthur Bates suffers from a condition known as Capgrass Syndrome. This condition is a mental disorder that makes people believe that those close to them have been taken over by hostile agents. When the AI adapts to his needs it places these thoughts in its own database and grows concerned and suspicious of the tennents.
The creators of Zone Three don’t believe that it is possible as it isn’t sentient. However Doomwatch prove that in constantly catering to all the inhabitants needs that it would have to accept the Capgrass Syndrome. Another murder follows and Doomwatch get trapped in the building and have to get to the AI and shut the computer down.
UNREQUITED HATE
by Grant Foxon
Following a sharp increase in racist attacks Doomwatch are called in to investigate when they discover that the extreme right in England has undergone a reform and new money is being pumped in from abroad. Despite MI5 and MI6 wanting a immediate limit on the investigation Doomwatch discovers a link to the more extreme members of a dissident break away group of the Republican party. Where they are attempting to stage their own counter-revolution intending to break down and recreate the party in line with a more extreme right viewpoint.
UNTITLED
BY Grant Foxon
An outbreak of Leptospiriosis (a dangerous disease transmitted through dog urine) in a small village causes major concern. Particularly as the villages believe that a family of travellers who have set up a camp on public land are to blame. Doomwatch are called in to investigate only to discover that the villager’s patients are running out and want to take the law into their own hands.
TIME TO DIE
by Scott Burditt
A new scientific breakthrough leads to a wearable computer that monitors not just heartrate but physiological well-being.
Tested in the labs on rats, the computer can accurately predict the health of a given subject and discover if they have any undiagnosed diseases.
Through doing this, the scientists discover by accident that the computer can not only do this but accurately predict the expected life-span of a subject. So within minutes it can estimate when a living organism will cease to function.
When the technology is tested on humans in a small village it causes them to re-assess their life, especially if the machine predicts their life-span to be shorter than they expected.
There is a lot of debate about the use of the machine that contoversially has a digital display that features a live countdown of the subjects remaining life estimated on their current health.
But, smoking and drinking and taking drugs causes the machine to falsely predict a critical life-span and the wearers are driven insane by knowing exactly when they will die. These people have extreme reactions to it and either decide to turn over a new leaf or kill themselves. Those that discover a long lifespan start acting like they are invincible.
Doomwatch are called in to assess/stop the project. In the meantime a life insurance policy company puts the squeeze on the Government to take possession of the discovery and enforce compulsory testing before dishing out life insurance to those that may not live to see out payments...
"The final end... It's a miracle". Dr. Reece Carter's hand was shaking.
Silence fell for a moment before his colleague answered.
"No, it's sick, we should destroy it now." Dr. Andrews gave Reece a cold, hard stare.
The 10 digit digital counter blinked zeros as the mouse lay still and lifeless.
"This is one of the biggest scientific breakthroughs ever. Are you mad? Besides... it's my pension." Dr. Carter couldn't stop the smile spreading across his face but his words fell on deaf ears as when he looked up from the mouse Dr Andrews had already left the lab in disgust.
